Paraprofessionals frequently provide job support to students participating in school- and community-based work-based learning experiences while receiving little formal preparation for this important role. In this session, transition specialist Rebecca Strohm shares practical strategies for preparing, supporting, and coaching paraprofessionals who assist students with disabilities in employment settings.

Participants will learn how to select paraprofessionals who are a strong fit for community-based employment support roles, provide meaningful training, build systems for ongoing support, effectively match paraprofessionals and students, collaborate with employers, and troubleshoot common workplace challenges.

This session is designed for transition coordinators, special educators, administrators, work-based learning coordinators, and related service personnel who support students with disabilities in employment and career readiness experiences.
