Discover the pivotal role of AT in educational settings and beyond, focusing on documentation and self-advocacy. Explore the shift from paper to digital portfolios with examples of digital platforms and sample templates. Bios:

Brittany Davis is the Assistive Technology Specialist for Roanoke City Public Schools in Roanoke, VA. She is an Occupational Therapist by trade and has been with RCPS for 7 years. Brittany has also worked with the Virginia Region 6 Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) on several speaking engagements. She is a member of the Virginia AT Network Advisory Council.? She is passionate about increasing students' access to the educational environment. 

Sharon Jones is a Program Specialist at the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at Virginia Commonwealth University.  She is also the Statewide Assistive Technology and Distance Education Coordinator, leading the VDOE Assistive Technology Network.  Her passion is assisting professionals and families in identifying and implementing low to high-tech assistive technology, including augmentative and alternative communication systems, and creating easy-to-make assistive technologies from early intervention through grade 12.

Kelly Ligon is a Research and Demonstration Associate for the Center on Transition Innovations at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been in the field of special education for over 30 years. Since 2000, she has provided training and technical assistance to educators across Virginia who support students with disabilities. Her passion is preparing students for life after high school.

Matt Newton coordinates assistive and instructional technology for the Virginia Department of Education’s Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at Virginia Tech. His focus is supporting general and special education teachers, administrators, and related service providers in finding and implementing low to high-tech solutions and UDL strategies for PK-12 students with disabilities.
