This web cast explores aspects of WIOA, Discovery services, VR services and funding, Project SEARCH, Waiver, and in particular, the exploration and work experiences that one transition aged youth built on towards becoming a successful employee. Learn how these services helped make this VR client's transition from school to SEARCH to employment smooth through his own perspective.

Mark Peterson, B.A., DD Employment Specialist, Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services - For over 30 years, Mark has worked from many perspectives and roles in the vocational rehabilitation world. In Virginia, he has specialized in supported employment services and most recently, customized employment. Mark has his Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.
Sherrina Sewell has been employed with the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services for 11 years. She is currently the Unit Supervisor in the Chesterfield field office of the Division of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) as well as one of the New Counselor Skills Trainers for the agency. In her role as Supervisor, she supervisors and mentors Transition Counselors working with students in high school. Prior to this role, Sherrina was a Transition Counselor in the Henrico field office of DRS where she worked with students and adults in Powhatan, Goochland, and Henrico County. While Sherrina has worked with many people with varying disabilities, she is an expert in areas of transitioning youth from school to work, and working with disability populations such as Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as Serious Mental Illness.
Bradford Hulcher recently retired from the Autism Society Central VA where she served in various capacities including I&R Specialist, Program Director, and ED. Bradford is a graduate of the University of VA and Partners in Policymaking. She is a Medicaid Waiver Mentor and enjoys presenting on person centered planning and collaborative IEP development. Bradford and her husband have 2 adult sons, one of whom has ASD.
Sam Hulcher is a 2011 graduate of Deep Run High School in Henrico County where he was actively engaged in many facets of curricular and extracurricular opportunities within the school community. Sam attended the VDOE I'm Determined Youth Summit for several years. Sam participated in a one year internship through Project Search and was employed with St. Mary's Hospital for 5 years. Sam has co-presented with Bradford on his journey to employment and independent living at local and state conferences.
