Project Search - Employment Preparation for High School Students with Autism

This presentation has several instructional ideas related to employment. There are ideas for daily social and independent skills, as well as activities broken down into days of the week. Several examples are not only discussed,  but are shown visually too. 

Katie Sims has been employed as a Special Education Teacher with South Eastern Educational Program (SECEP) since 2003. SECEP functions as a regional public school serving the Hampton Roads Communities of Chesapeake, Franklin,  Isle of Wight, Norfolk,  Portsmouth,  Southampton Suffolk, and Virginia Beach. For the past three years, Ms. Sims worked as the lead teacher and Project SEARCH Instructor for SECEP's Autism Spectrum Program at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center, a hospital located in Portsmouth. This school year, Ms. Sims was voted Teacher of the Year for SECEP's city of Portsmouth.
