In this webcast, the presenters will walk you through how one CBTAC advances through the Florida VR Self-Employment program, and the relationship between the VRC, CBTAC, and VR Customer.  They will share thoughts and experiences on each benchmark in the 12-18 month program from the perspective of the VRC, CBTAC, and VR Customer. 

Presenter Bios:

Monica Doyle: After 15 years in administrative areas of post-secondary education, Monica wanted to make a difference. So, Monica volunteered as a mentor for DOUA (Disabled Online Users Association) and also began teaching basic computer skills and how to start an e-commerce business to seniors and individuals with disabilities at the local community college. Monica was contacted by the local Vocational Rehabilitation office to provide training for clients pursuing self-employment in e-commerce through a program with Griffin-Hammis. Monica also provided an e-commerce pilot program for The Abilities Fund for individuals with disabilities. In 2011, Monica received her CWIC certification from VCU and began preparing PASS Plans through the Iowa WIPA program while working with self-employment consumers through Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation. Also in 2011, Monica received her CBTAC certification in Florida and has been working with Florida Vocational Rehabilitation clients interested in pursuing self-employment ever since.

Sherry Wyn: Just Fix This Mess, Inc. organizes lives and assists individuals, families, seniors, their caregivers and families; and businesses to successfully manage their paper, digital, and financial assets. Sherry is a proud member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals), AADMM (American Association of Daily Money Managers); NASA (National Association of Senior Advocates), Sebring Chamber of Commerce, and Toastmasters International. She is a certified user of QuickBooks and skilled/trained in many administrative areas as well as project management and continues her education in various aspects of her field in order to better serve her clients. Just Fix This Mess, Inc. is a proud vendor of Vocational Rehabilitation and has helped numerous self-employment clients to set up their QuickBooks for their small businesses and to learn what they needed to know to maintain the QuickBooks. 2022, Just Fix This Mess, Inc. was awarded the Better Business Bureau approved business membership; and is currently working toward meeting the strategic professional development and standards of operation for NAPO's "Business Stamp of Approval" Program. With the assistance of Linda Daffner, VR Counselor, and Monica Doyle, CBTAC, Sherry combined her skills including 25+ years of experience in business, her life experiences, navigating life with disabilities, raising a son who was challenged with ADHD along with several learning disabilities, and being a caregiver; along with her passion for helping others; into an opportunity of forming a company that specializes in creating customized organizing and financial solutions to meet the unique needs of clients while training them in developing new habits to maintain them for long term success and achievement of organizing their lives and giving them peace of mind.

Linda Daffner: Linda Daffner worked as a VRC for 18 years with the State of Florida, retiring in 2019. Her caseload was never below 200 clients. The self-employment direction came after her first successful small business start up with an American Indian young lady that really needed the help to survive. During her tenure, she handled multiple self-employment cases with positive outcomes. Linda worked with all types of persons with disabilities and has always felt self-employment was an important path for consideration. Linda feels her time spent with VR was a success as she was able to help many persons that would otherwise would not have been helped.
